Recent expansion has seen the Ropeworks grow to over 10,000 square feet and it attracts thousands of visitors every year, who come to watch traditional ropemaking in progress. Part of the fascination of watching ropes being made is the satisfaction of seeing the complete process, in which many thin strands of yarn are rapidly twisted into a strong rope. and to enjoy the facilities on offer, including a well-stocked shop full of gift ideas.
Visitors are welcome to the ropeworks where we now make stair/bannister ropes, barrier ropes, dog leads, pet accessories and many different types of braids.
With a café next door and a number of attractions nearby, the Ropeworks is an ideal place to visit for an interesting day out. Just across the road is a large Pottery and adjacent to that is a delightful playground which is ideal for those visitors with young children.
The award winning Dales Countryside Museum is just 100 yards away on the other side of the car park and other nearby attractions include, Hardraw Falls, a Woodturner and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs.
